Left-back Christian Günter continues to believe in his chance of appealing to the national football team.
I can continue to recommend. It s not that I m completely out, said the captain of the SC Freiburg of the German Press Agency. The left-back was not yet taken into account by national coach Hansi Flick after his takeover.
He has led with flick one or the other conversation, Günter said. I m not doing stress, he said, with a look at another nomination: It s a goal to play for the national team again. I would lie when I would say, I would not be happy.
For the European Championship Günter was nominated by Flicks predecessor Joachim Löw, but had not been used. Overall, the 28-year-old has so far completed three internationals. He had already given his debut in 2014, two more country games were added last June in preparation for the European Championship.
