The adventure at Borussia Mönchengladbach has not really been made to Hannes Wolf. Most recently, the offensive man was loaned to Swansea City in England. In summer he returns – and then?
Hannes Wolf was considered a promising transfer before the 2020/21 season and above all as a wish player of Marco Rose. But the coach left the Fohlenelf in the direction of BVB a year later and left Wolf, who hardly played a role in the system of Roses successor Adi Hütter, on his own.
Consequently, the 23-year-old was loaned to Swansea City in winter, where he flourished again. The left foot completed 18 games, scored two goals and scored three goals.
Hütter is now also history in Gladbach. Is it now ahead for Wolf after his return? The Austrian is behaving. It is not yet clear to him whether – despite his contract until 2024 – he will again cover the eleven jersey from the Lower Rhine.
“First of all, I am very pleased with this positive feedback from the fans in Swansea and it also honors me,” Wolf told “Bild” about the supporters and those responsible for the English second division club, who would like to keep the Austrian.
Future in Gladbach? Wolf undecided
“Now we have a break first and I will use it to refuel and to be able to go into the new season well. The coming weeks will show that I will be well prepared for all possible scenarios,” said Wolf said that a farewell seems realistic for him.
The 22-year-old did not want to say whether a new coach who relies on Wolf again. “This will show the time! I will concentrate on what I can personally influence,” said Wolf.
A lot should depend on whether the former Leipziger feels the joy of kicking again at Borussia. “Football should always be fun, but the two and a half years in Germany were not quite as desired,” Wolf looked back. “Of course it is a lot more fun when you play and need it. Just as it has been in the past five months.”
